Zuyu’s mother and the wife of Zarbon. Freiza used to use her as a tool to use against Zarbon. Despite his best efforts Zarbon could not always protect his young bride from his overlord’s clutches. This finally resulted in her nearly miscarrying Zarbon’s unborn son. Finally Zarbon reached out to Cryo who was known to hide people on his planets and not involve them in war. (Hell he has 4 saiyans hiding there) Cryo gladly took in Mikan and provided her with a comfortable safe life where she gave birth to Zuyu. Unfortunately Zarbon died at Vegeta’s hands on Namek shortly after his birth and never got to see or hold his son. Like Shami, Zuyu was raised by Cryo and has become an excellent fighter. Mikan has settled into her peaceful life, content to watch her son grow. She still deeply misses her husband but still catches a glimpse of him in her son’s eyes.

Mikan is a strong willed woman but is not a fighter and cannot transform unless she did some serious training. It is believed she came from a wealthy family and is the same race as Zarbon. She is an excellent good (which the Ginyu’s take advantage of frequently)

Note the scars left by Frieza. Her outfit is a combination of what her people wore on her home world and of the and the flowing earthy fabrics of what not military people wear on Cryo’s main planet.

Mikan is the name of a Japanese citrus fruit keeping her name in the same pattern as Zarbon and Zuyu’s (reverse of Yuzu).
