Introduction to Escondido, California Founded in 1881, Escondido is in San Diego County in Southern California. Escondido is part of the San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos metropolitan area, which is one of the 20 largest metropolitan areas in the United States. Escondido has a mild climate. Summer daily temperatures average in the 80s, and winter daily temperatures average in the 60s.
Escondido Arts and Entertainment Escondido, California provides easy access to all of the many cultural, arts and entertainment offerings of nearby San Diego. In addition, some of Escondido’s more notable attractions include: The California Center for the Arts. The Deer Park Winery and Auto Museum. The Escondido Children’s Museum.
The Mingei International Museum. The Patio Playhouse. The San Pasqual Battlefield State Park. Theatrix. The Lawrence Welk Museum. The Welk Resort Theatre. There are also many vineyards and wineries in and around Escondido. For the sports enthusiast, nearby San Diego offers a good assortment of professional sports offerings.

Minor League Baseball’s (MiLB) Lake Elsinore Storm play forty-five minutes north in Lake Elsinore, California. The Storm are a Class A Advanced affiliate of the San Diego Padres.
